Veliki Kuk is better described as a protected mountain path than a continuous via ferrata. From the bivouac below Kuk, it climbs steep gullies and rock steps toward the summit. Cable and metal footholds appear only on the more vertical passages, with unprotected ground between them.
The published figures give 700 metres of protected route, 500 metres of height gain and an A/B grade. The approach from Diva Grabovica to the bivouac takes around two hours. Return options include reversing the route or making a much longer circuit via Kuk, the Vilinac mountain lodge and the hut at Žlijebi.
The national route catalogue reports serious technical defects, rockfall risk and insecure installed equipment, and recommends closure until reconstruction. Do not use this route unless the responsible local organisation has confirmed that repairs are complete and it has formally reopened.
