Questions

Skiing near Sarajevo

Which ski resort is closest to Sarajevo?

Igman and Bjelašnica are west of the city and Jahorina is east, above Pale. All three are under an hour away when the roads are clear.

When is the ski season in Bosnia?

Resorts usually open in mid-December and the season peaks in January and February. Snow and crowds drop off quickly in March, depending on the winter.

Is skiing in Bosnia cheap?

Compared with the Alps, yes. An adult day pass on Jahorina, the biggest resort, is 98 KM (about €50) for 2026/27, and the smaller resorts charge 20 to 45 KM. Rental and private lessons are priced to match. See each resort page for the current rates.

Can I ski near Sarajevo without a car?

Some winters there are weekend buses to Bjelašnica, but timetables change every season and you still have to sort out rental at the resort. We pick you up in Sarajevo and have your gear ready when you arrive.
