Route & suitability
Prenj rises steeply above the Neretva between Konjic and Mostar, and locals call it the Herzegovina Himalaya. The nickname oversells the altitude but not the character: sharp limestone ridges, deep karst basins, chamois on the upper slopes and hardly another hiker all day. We head up toward Zelena glava, at 2,155 m the highest peak in the range, and pick the exact line on the day to suit the group and the conditions.
Best for
- Fit guests with previous mountain experience who want a more committing objective.
- Travelers who want local route knowledge, safe pacing, and a strong sense of place.
Not ideal for
- Travelers looking for a casual sightseeing walk or a short, flexible outing.
For Prenj Peaks Hike (Herzegovina), choose comfort over speed. Good shoes, enough water, and a steady pace make the day better than trying to rush the route.
Good to know
- Price is €135 for one hiker and €65 for each additional person, with transport from Mostar to the trailhead and back included.
- Prenj is at its best over two or three days, linking several peaks with nights in a mountain hut or tent. We run 2- and 3-day traverses on request. Ask on WhatsApp for a quote.
- Water sources are few and far between on Prenj, so carry at least 2.5 litres. Your guide plans the day around the known sources.
